UTBA Stop the Bleed Training with Upper Twp. Rescue Squad – In Person Event

A special “Stop The Bleed” training course, presented in conjunction with the Upper twp. Rescue Squad, is being offered this month for members of the Upper Twp. Business Association on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 6:30 pm.

Stop the Bleed training is intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. With the significant increase in violence, an traumatic event can happen anywhere in public areas, but trauma can also occur in business, home, automobiles, ATV, motorcycle, and industrial accidents. The training source was developed when the American College of Surgeons responded to the Boston Marathon bombings (in 2013). They decided to take initiative because there were several lives lost that could have been prevented by limb bleedings (being) controlled.

This training is part of this year’s series of UTBA professional development workshops for Business Association members. Most training will be with virtual Zoom sessions. However, with the need for hands-on training, the Stop the Bleed class is an in-person event.

The April 27th workshop will be presented by John Carter, a member of the Upper Twp. EMS Rescue Squad and a certified instructor for the Stop the Bleed program. The session will be held at the Upper Twp. Community Center, 1790 Route 50, Tuckahoe, NJ.

The class size is ten (10) and there is a limit of two attendees from each UTBA member business for this class. Masks, social distancing and other applicable Covid-19 protocols will be observed for this training. Additional sessions may be scheduled, depending on demand.
